At 0925H, D/2/1st Inf (-) was air lifted to BT175370 due to the reported presence of a VC battalion. B Co (-) began to move in a northwesterly direction. C Troop was called to screen for the unit. The Bde CO immediately airlifted B Co's remaining platoon to the sight of CPT McKenzie's kill to exploit any further findings. B Co continued to move northwest. The team of LT Briggs and WO Ross relieved the previous team. CPT McKenzie detected several VC, south of B Co (-) and west of the platoon, camouflaged with trees on their backs moving through the wooded area. The platoon was then directed by CPT McKenzie to move to this new location, BT181356. CPT McKenzie 3 KIA's, CPT Grooms 1 KIA and 2 WIA's that were taken prisoner by the ground force. The Bde Co then changed B Co's direction of attack and had them move to the location of the new action. The Bde Co then directed an armored Cav Platoon to set up a block to the west. CPT McKenzie now screening for them sighted several camouflaged bunkers around some houses and directed them to this new location.
