Description: The following is an edited version from the weekly Vietnam Communique column in the 6 Jan 1968 issue.
The 4300-man 11th LIB arrived in-country to join the division in southern I Corps Tactical Zone. There are three maneuver battalions, one artillery battalion and combat service support units in the brigade. Units of the 3rd Bde, 1st Cav Div, in Operation Wheeler/Wallowa, killed 45 enemy in one day's action. Gunships of the 1/9th Air Cav used searchlights to spot 25 enemy sampans along the Truong Giang River. The choppers sunk all 25 sampans and killed one enemy soldier.
