Description: The MAG-16 command chronology reported operations in Chu Lai area were normal. In the Da Nang area two HMM-265 CH-46As were hit, one at BT078517, no injuries, one at ZC1966, no injuries. At the Khe Sanh airfield, two HMH-463 CH-53As were hit, no injuries in one but the second aircraft received major damage resulting in two fatalities, one major injury and two minor injuries to the crew. One H&MS-16 O-1G received artillery fragments at Khe Sanh airfield. Search and rescue operations continued for the missing HMH-463 CH-53A.
