A/7/17 CAV losses were 1 KIA
Description: A/7/17 Cav reported their Scouts observed 5 to 10 individuals taking evasive action and killed one NVA. A and B Troop's Blues were inserted. They swept into a bunker complex and came in contact with an estimated company size enemy unit. The firing was so intense that the medevac ship could not land. With the Guns' support, the ground force advanced through the bunker complex killing 15 enemy. Contact was broken by the enemy and the ground force extracted. The Honor Roll section states that PFC John D. Beaver was wounded while their Blues were battling a company size unit at YB988042 and that he died before an aircraft could land to extract him from the battle.
