HMM-362 was a US Marine Corps unit
Primary service involved, US Marine Corps
Operation NIGHT OWL
Quang Tri Province, I Corps, South Vietnam
Location, An My
Description: This was the night attack by BLT 2/4, which had been landed from SLT A earlier, of the abandoned hamlet of An My which was believed to contain elements of an NVA battalion from the 320C Division that had just moved over the DMZ. After passing through the ARVN position at ALPHA 1, BLT 2/4 surrounded An My and attacked but the NVA had moved on. As one company was moving into position it crossed paths with an NVA company also on the move. The sharp firefight that followed resulted in Marine WIAs that HMM-362 would evac back to the Iwo Jima.
