Operation MACARTHUR
Kontum Province, II Corps, South Vietnam
Location, south of Dak To
Description: The 4th Inf Div's Operation MACARTHUR reported that during this period B-52 raids, TAC air strikes, vigorous patrolling, and the reconnaissance work of the 7/17th Cav kept the 325C NVA Div off balance. B/7/17th Cav observed 50 individuals and 150-200 foxholes and bunkers in a battalion size position at YB825282. Artillery, Huey gunships, CS gas, COFRAM, air strikes, and artillery with concrete piercing fuzes saturated the area. The 325C Div, unable to organize for a concentrated effort, conducted moderatge standoff attacks and M19 plastic mines were used to disrupt the vital supply lines along Route 512. APCs of the 2/1st Cav and even civilian Lambrettas detonated them.
