Description: The following is an edited version from the weekly Vietnam Communique column in the 25 May 1968 issue.
An ambush element of the 2/5th Cav killed 41 NVA soldiers recently. The cavalrymen were working an area three and one-half miles north of Dong Ha when they spotted more than 100 NVA soldiers moving towards the U.S. position. The Skytroopers waited until the enemy had moved to within 20 yards of the ambush site and then opened up on them. Artillery and naval gunfire was also called in. After the contact, 41 enemy bodies were found.
