Description: The 3d ARRG quaterly unit history states that the Group entered into an agreement with the Vietnamese Directorate of Meteorology to provide evacuation services for the Vietnamese Meteorology Station personnel on Pattle Island approximately 210 miles east of Da Nang in the South China Sea. The 37th ARRS will be tasked to provide HH-3E helicopters and the 39th ARRS to provide the HC-130P fixed wing. Since there were no navigation aids on the island, any missions will be limited to daylight VFR only. The agreement warns that the Amphitrite Group of island which belong to Communist China are 45 miles to the northeast of Pattle and in no case with mission aircraft penetrate within 10 miles of these islands.
