Description: During July, B/7/17 Cav supported Task Force South and covered AOs almost south to Saigon, north to Ban Me Thout, west to the Cambodian border and east to the South China Sea. These actions resulted in two of the three wounded for the month. They made contact with the enemy 21 times which resulted in 27 VC KIA's by body count and the capture of 6 AK-47's, 1 60mm mortar with 8 rounds, 1 7.62 ChiCom pistol, ll pounds of documents, and 3.5 tons of rice either captured or destroyed. The Guns were employed to destroy three 5-ton trucks. A combination of Scouts, Gun, arty, and airstrikes accounted for 50 structures destroyed and countless bunkers damaged.
