Description: The following is an edited version from the weekly Vietnam Communique column in the 17 Aug 1968 issue.
The 4th Inf Div killed 7 enemy in a week of light contact. A reconnaissance patrol from the 1/12th Inf found an enemy pack yesterday while searching an area near Ban Me Thuot. The pack was well supplied with 100 blasting caps, an antipersonnel mine, a firing device, a diary and ample clothing. Troopers of the 1/10th Cav observed 15 enemy outside the perimeter of a defense position 12 miles north of Ban Me Thuot. One VC was killed in the ensuring firefight. A search of the area resulted in the detention of two suspects and the capture of two rifles and a carbine.
