Description: The following is an edited version from the weekly Vietnam Communique column in the 14 Sep 1968 issue. Ivymen from the 4th Inf Div killed 43 enemy soldiers in light action during the week. A 1st Brigade patrol observed 10 NVA soldiers three miles north of Dak To. The patrol was extracted and airstrikes were called in on the enemy. Three enemy were reported killed. Soldiers from the 1/12th Inf made contact with eight NVA soldiers NW of Dak To. One enemy was killed in the initial skirmish. The results of artillery fire called in later are unknown. An aero rifle platoon inserted to rescue the crew of a LOH from D/1/10th Cav was involved in a heavy firefight. Reinforced by elements of the 4/503rd Inf, 173rd Abn Bde, 10 enemy soldiers were killed.
