Description: The Air Ambulance Platoon monthly newsletter reported a letter of commendation from COL Harold I. Hayward, CO, 1st Bde, 101st ABN for the support rendered during SOMERSET PLAIN in the A Shau Valley. The AAP despite exposure to hostile fire and inclement weather performed many difficult talks and saved many lives. During an awards ceremony on the 16th, SP5 Sterns and Sp4 Stanley each received Silver Stars, and WO Lama a DFC.
