Description: The following is an edited version from the weekly Vietnam Communique column in the 21 Sep 1968 issue.
The 1st Bde, 5th Mech and U.S. Marine elements encountered light resistance in a week of action. Two companies of the 1/61st Inf were called in to reinforce a Marine company which was in heavy contact with the enemy in the late afternoon. The companies successfully linked up with the Marines. Fighting continued into early evening when the enemy withdrew. Nine NVA soldiers were killed in the action.
