From date 681022 to 681028

ACT 11 ACR was a US Army unit
Primary service involved, US Army
Binh Duong Province, III Corps, South Vietnam
Location, Lai Khe
Description: The following is an edited version from the weekly Vietnam Communique column in the 11 Nov 1968 issue. The ARP from the ACT, 11th ACR killed three VC and captured 11 others during a series of lightning-quick raids east of Lai Khe yesterday. Action began when an enemy soldier was captured beside a tunnel complex. The detainee was questioned and revealed the location of other enemy soldiers. The heliborne cavalrymen then took to their choppers and found four VC, one of whom told of more VC hiding in thick brush. Again the troops boarded their helicopters and surprised 10 VC. As the helicopters landed fighting began. Three VC were killed and seven detained during the brief firefight. The detainees were believed to be members of an enemy mortar section. The weapons captured in the engagement included two mortars, seven individual weapons including a pistol and numerous munitions.
