Description: The following is an edited version from the weekly Vietnam Communique column in the 27 Jan 1969 issue.
In a week of light contact the soldiers of the 1st Inf Div killed 29 enemy. On Jan 12 the soldiers of the 1/16th Inf moved into an ambush position near their Lai Khe base camp. The men spotted six VC running across an open area cleared by Rome Plows. Supported by gunships the infantrymen killed five of the enemy and detained the sixth.
