operation MASSACHUSETTS STRIKER information
for 2 BDE 101 ABN
From date 690301 to 690508
2 BDE 101 ABN was a US Army unit
Primary service involved, US Army
Operation MASSACHUSETTS STRIKER
Quang Nam Province, I Corps, South Vietnam
Location, A Shau
Description: In Feb, MACV intelligence indicated that the NVA had returned to the A Shau. The 101st ABN Div built two FSBs on the valley's edge and waited for a break in the weather. This operation was launched on the 1st but weather prevented airmobile assaults. Eventually the 2d BDE would put four bns into the valley. They kept finding NVA trucks, depots, and caches; considerable evidence of the major NVA logistical investment in the A Shau.
