Description: The 1st BDE (Mech), 5th Inf Div formed TF Remagen with two mech Inf and one tank companies plus an SP 105mm battery, armored engineers and SP AA guns. It left Ca Lu on the 16th down Route 9 toward Khe Sanh. The TF continued to prowl the region until the end of April. The TF built bypasses around washouts and put their AVLBs over streams. It was totally resupplied by helicopters since it was cutoff from other land units. Major repairs and overhauls were accomplished in the field including 12 engine, 18 sets of tracks, and 7 transmissions replacements. Army and Marine helicopters airlifted everything for this TF.
