Description: The Command Chronology states that HMM-161 flew a total of 76.1 flight hours during the day's operational commitments. One aircraft was shot down at XD828628. The pilot, 1stLt C.D. Henricks, was fatally wounded by a .50 caliber round while trying to hoist out an emergency medevac. No other crew members were injured. A Recovery Team was put in around the downed helicopter to secure the area. The aircraft was later flown out by a Recovery Crew led by Major J.S. Loop.
