Description: The 361st Escort Company's unit history states that their forward amorers working out of Dak Pek, the forward operations base for MACV SOG CCC, distinguished themselves by exceptionally valorous and voluntary actions. SP5 Wayne Lucas and SP5 Jeffery Lee on this day continually showed their mettle by exposing themselves to a heavy mortar attack to aid their wounded comrades when the enemy mortared four 57th AHC UH-1Hs that were shut down next to the Dak Pek airstripe. Continually these two brave men exposed themselves to the falling mortar rounds to give medical aid and carry wounded personnel to waiting helicopters. For their actions they received impact awards of the Bronze Star with a 'V' device and were talke recommended for upgrading to the Silver Star by the FOB 2 commander, LTC Frederick Abt.
