Description: As part of the initial assault onto Go Noi Island, MAG-16 used 22 CH-46s to deliver a USMC and a Korean MC Bn into two zones on the southern banks of the eastern Go Noi. This followed an impressive series of air strikes that totalled over 750,000 lbs of ordinance dropped during the entire operation. The area was heavily infested with mines; so the Inf used air strikes as a way to help reduce this treat. The Inf still suffered a lot of surprise firing device (the official term for a mine) casualties and required significant medevac support.
