Description: The 361st Escort Company's unit history states that a fire team of WO1 Jim Meyer/CPT John Schachleiter in the lead aircraft and WO1 Alan Dean/CW2 Tom Blanchard on their wing silenced three confirmed enemy rocket and mortar positions after the 1st Bn/45th ARVN received its normal dose of rockets on the Volcano; an actual cold volcano located 8K SSW of Duc Lap. The Volcano became infamous for its steady mortar attacks forcing resupply missions to be attempted through extrememly heavy enemy fire.
