unit history information
for A/2/20 ARA

For date 700329

A/2/20 ARA was a US Army unit
Primary service involved, US Army
Tay Ninh Province, III Corps, South Vietnam
Location, LZ JAY
Description: The battalion history states that LZ JAY came under a heavy ground attack. Battery A utilized nine sections, 18 aircraft, and expended 600 rockets while supporting the besieged defenders. Throughout the battle, highly accurate and devestating fires were placed on the attacking enemy. Numerous resupply and medevac missions were flown to the LZ to provide badly needed support. Each time one of the aircraft approached, it came under enmy AA fire. The BLUE MAX sections quickly located these positions and attacked, forcing the enemy gunners to divert their fire to the Cobras. These AA positions were destroyed or silenced through the determined efforts of the crews flying the deadly Cobras. As dawn broke, the LZ defense remained intact. The enemy failed to break the defenses, left many dead on the battlefield, and lost a number of crew served weapons.
