Description: The Air Ambulance Platoon reported in the A FEW WORDS FROM DUSTOFF '96' column - With gradual dissipation of the monsoon season there has been an increase of enemy contact with the resultant increase of "hot" missions. During the last month we have had 5 aircraft experience combat damage resulting in one aircraft loss. This has been the first combat damage we have experienced in several months. I think everyone agrees we would much rather face the prespects of enemy fire than those 100-200ft ceilings in the mountains at night. The aviators and crews really put out during the inclement weather season. All crews have found themselves in the "soup" all to frequently, but our instrument training has brought everyone through in good stead. All our crews have received some well deserved praise for the accomplishment of next to impossible missions. The regular column of the Newsletter continues by mentioning that MAJ Thomas W. Murphy will DEROS next month and says some nice things about his leadership. In the past couple of months EAGLE DUSTOFF has gone through quite a transition. Through DEROS, ETS, and transfers we have lost 4 ACs, 8 CEs, and 11 Medics, and have gained quite a few new faces. You are always happy for the man that goes home, but there's a tinge of regrest when you watch all that experience walk out the door, because experience is hard to replace.
