Description: A/7/17th Cav reported their Scouts were in the process of reconning an infiltration route just southeast of Hill 763. Early in the mission, a Scout ship was shot down and his wingman received numerous hits in the aircraft. The nature of heavy fighting, terrain, and other forces in the area would not permit further search for the downed crew. The Scout ships were driven away because of a very heavy NVA uprising. Note: the pilot was CPT Gus Robinson and the observer was SP4 Robert E. Tabb. Tabb was captured by the NVA and released in 1973.
Comments: CPT Robinson, Gus Blakely; pilot; KIAOF; SP4 Tabb, Robert Ernest; observe; POW;
