Description: The 119th unit history states that with regular missions completed, the Crocs departed for home base only to be called out on a contact mission. Eight dinks were seen crossing an open field into a tree line and Hawkeye 22 vectored Croc 4 and 8 into the area. Croc 8, WO Estes, punched off rockets from his C-model hog as Croc 4, WO Paduan, came in with mini-guns. Then one of the rockets hung up and exploded sending deadly shrapnel on the left side of the aircraft. Croc 039's crew chief, SP4 Clark, sustained a serious leg wound and WO Estes forced landed the ship 50 meters north of the enemies position. A call was put out and Gator 14, WO Olive, was first to receive and respond, and medevaced SP4 Clark. Gator 14 extracted the crew of Croc 039 as Croc 4 provided gun cover. In bound to the location, Gator 16, 1LT Tomlinson, experienced engine problems and force landed his ship 15 KM west of Croc 039. Gator 317 was near by to extract the crew as the rest of the Gators inserted a security force of 35 grunts around Gator 100. Both ships were sling loaded out by Flipper 25 while Gambler 16 and 26 provided gunship cover.
