In Quang Tri Province on the morning of March 1, a U.S. POL supply point six miles southwest of Cam Lo was infiltrated by an unknown-size sapper force. Three explosions followed by a fire resulted in 55,000 gallons of POL destroyed. The fire was brought under control and there were no casualties. The following morning, a U.S. Army OV1 reconnaissance aircraft, approximately 11 miles north of Khe Sanh, was fired upon by an unknown-type missile fired by an enemy antiaircraft artillery position in North Vietnam. The aircraft was not damaged. On the afternoon of March 4, a U.S. Army UH1 helicopter was hit by enemy ground fire, crashed and was destroyed in Quang Tri Province eight miles south of Quang Tri City. U.S. casualties were one wounded.
