More detail on this person: Clarence Davidson Adams III passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 surrounded by his loving wife and children. David was born in Eunice, Louisiana in 1946 then grew up in Houston, Texas. He enlisted in the US Army in 1969 under the Warrant Officer Flight Training program, earned his wings in April of 1970 and was immediately assigned to Vietnam as a Cobra Attack Helicopter pilot. Then after 11 years as a Helicopter Pilot, David transitioned into fixed-wing aircraft and spent the last 12 years of his career serving as the pilot in command of numerous types of Military Intelligence collection aircraft, his favorite was his beloved Mohawk over the skies of Germany. His last combat deployment was to Saudi Arabia in 1990 for Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He retired from the Army in 1992 with over 1,500 combat hours best of all his number of landings always equaled his number of take-offs! David then started his own business, The Homes of the Greater Fort Hood Area magazine. After he sold the business in 2007, he started publishing the newsletter for the 9,000 member-strong VHPA (Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association).

David married his wife Linda in 1974 while they were both living in Austin, Texas. They were married for over 41 years and have two beautiful children, one son Jeffrey David and a daughter Annika Lynn. David also enjoyed running his cattle ranch in east Texas. He turned the place into a wild game sanctuary as the one place where the deer weren't hunted, the ducks had their own feeders, the fish were there strictly for the kids to catch and the squirrels had their run of the place. When asked who owned the Rocking A Ranch, he always replied "Actually the cattle own it, I just buy the feed and do everything possible to keep them healthy and happy!"

David enjoyed traveling with his wife to visit the many friends they maintained contract with from the military spread out across the globe. He was also an amazing story teller and writer. David loved spending time with family and was very close to his two beloved children. They spent so much time together and truly cherished every moment of life.

All of the support, kindness and condolences have meant so much to us. We will celebrate David's life, and all that he meant to us, and we hope you can attend. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2015 from 6:00p.m. until 9:00p.m. with his funeral service at 3:30p.m., Monday, August 17, 2015 all at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville suburb of Austin, TX. For additional service details and directions visit www.cookwaldencapitalparks.com. Hotels near the Adams' home in Round Rock, Texas are Holiday Inn Austin North - Round Rock (2370 Chisolm Trail Round Rock, TX 78681) and Hilton Garden Inn Austin/Round Rock (2310 N Interstate 35, Round Rock, TX, 78681).

His family hopes to see or hear from you soon. It was a very long year, a difficult struggle against harrowing odds, where the love of his life, his darling Linda never left his side. He flew away from this world, with his family holding his hands and now is finally in peace with so many of his best friends. What a party they are all having right now! In his own words "It's been an honor to fly with you. Wheels in the well - Sugar Hotel"
