More detail on this person: CWO4 Carl LeGrand Amick, Jr., US Army (Retired), 72, of Thonotosassa, FL, died Saturday, February 10, 2018, at James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa, FL. Born on November 6, 1945, in Newberry, he was the son of the late Carl LeGrand Amick, Sr. and Dorothy Clary Amick. He was a graduate of Newberry High School and Pepperdine University. He served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from the U.S. Army. Following his military career he worked as a pilot for the S.C. Governor's Office and he then worked at the University of South Florida and the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL. Mr. Amick was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. He is survived by a sister, Gail (Joseph) Looney of Chapin and a nephew, Bryan (Diana) Looney of Atlanta. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, February 15, 2018, at Newberry Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Matthew Titus. Full military honors will be rendered by the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to The Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 1515 Boundary Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
