More detail on this person: Allen, Steven, - 79, of Pleasantville, passed away peacefully with his devoted family by his side on May 22, 2024. Steven is survived by his best friend and wife, Linda (McGhee) Allen; adoring daughter, Geneva (Mike) Gryp and two beautiful granddaughters, Emma and Katie; devoted son Tommy (Ali) Allen and sweet granddaughter Maddie. Loving sister, Patricia Murray of Dallas, GA. Beloved nephew and buddy, Gary McGhee (G.J.); nephew, Sean (Heather) McGhee of Garner, NC; brother in-law and wife John (Jackie), Theresa McGhee; caring sister in-law, Jeanne (Gary dec.) McGhee. Also many friends and relatives. CW4 Steven "Flame" Allen, two weeks prior to his return to the U.S. after duty in Vietnam, he accepted an assignment piloting his Cobra helicopter over hostile battleground and took a gunshot to his chest and through the back. Steven continued his ARMY career as a helicopter pilot instructor. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star medal and numerous Air Medals. He was an incredible aviator and his passion was in aviation. Our family thanks the Meadow View Nursing Home, nurses and nurses' aides in the veterans wing for their care. Thanks also to Laura, HR case worker, for her support and guidance. Jessica from Angelic Hospice, very caring and supporting our family through the process. Our gratitude to Dr. Vogl, Oncology Univ. of Penn, Philadelphia; Dr. Madamba, oncologist Univ. of Penn, Cherry Hill along with Martin Igoe. A graveside service will be held at the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery Estell Manor, NJ on Tuesday May 28, 2024 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Wounded Warriors or Humane Society.
