More detail on this person: LA CRESCENT, Minn. - Robert F. Adams Jr., 56, of La Crescent, died
Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center.
He was born in Lancaster, Wis., on April 23, 1946, to Robert F. and Constance M. (Clinch) Adams Sr.
He married Betty Boll on June 17, 1967, in Cassville, Wis. Bob and Betty recently celebrated their
35th wedding anniversary with a trip to Hawaii.
Bob was a 1964 graduate of Cassville High School. Upon graduation, he worked for a plastics company
in Watertown, Wis., for a short time, then enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served for four years,
which included a one-year tour in Vietnam, where he served as a warrant officer and a helicopter
pilot. Bob also served in the Army National Guard for an additional 10 years.
After his service, Bob was employed as the school coordinator for the Hogan Spring Glen Community
School in Jacksonville, Fla., for 14 years. In 1982, he and his family moved to La Crescent, where
he has served as the principal of Crucifixion School ever since.
Bob was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5115 and the Gittens-Leidel American Legion
Post 595, both of La Crescent. In his free time, Bob enjoyed riding his motorcycle with his cycle
club, which met Saturday mornings at the Onalaska Hardee's before going out for their ride. As a
licensed pilot, he enjoyed flying airplanes. He also flew model airplanes and had several other
remote control "toys." Bob also collected model cars and John Deere tractors, and enjoyed traveling,
dining out and spending time with his family.
Bob is survived by his wife, Betty; one daughter, Ann (Erick) Schoenberger of Watertown, Wis.; one
son Bob L. Adams of Fitchburg, Wis.; his mother, Constance Adams of Stoughton, Wis.; two sisters,
Janice Koehler of Edgerton, Wis., and Deborah (Steve) Delk of Oregon, Wis.; five brothers, Michael
(Nancy) Adams of Lehigh Acres, N. Fla., Allan (Kim) Adams of Stoughton, Rodney (Sally) Adams of
Edgerton, Dennis Adams of Edgerton and Tony (Brenda) Adams of Stoughton Wis.; a sister-in-law,
Dorothy (John) Nodorft-U'Ren of Hokah, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in
death by his father; two sisters, Diane Adams and Lynette U'Ren; and two brothers, David Adams and
Andrew Adams.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, Nov. 18, at 10 a.m., at the Church of the
Crucifixion in La Crescent. Msgr. Donald W. Grubisch will officiate. Burial, with military honors by
American Legion Post 595, will take place in Pine Creek Cemetery, rural La Crescent. Friends may
call at the church Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m., where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m., and again
Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to
Crucifixion School or to the Crucifixion Tuition Relief Fund. The Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La
Crescent is assisting with arrangements.
