Hello Mike,
I hope this note finds you and yours well.
I suspect you don't remember me. But we spoke several years ago regarding my status having not
served in Vietnam. Thank you for clearing it up for me.
Regardless of that. I must notify you that my/our friend and fellow aviator passed away after a
long illness at his home in Lufkin Texas on October 7 2023.
I flew with Charlie in the Michigan National Guard from 1971 till 1976. After that we flew together
at Houston Helicopters. After that he disappeared for several years then he turned up flying for
Bristow Helicopters in Trinidad and Tobago. He did find a bird's nest on the ground. He loved it
there. He was happy there. And he spent nearly 30 years flying for Bristow. In 2005 He convinced me
to go to Trinidad. And I will be forever grateful. It was a lovely ending for my career.
Charlie was an excellent pilot. He spent those years at Bristow as a Training Capitan. Teaching many
Trinidadians to fly helicopters. Those pilots have spread out and are now flying all over the
world.
Last time I saw him we were talking about his health. I told him that I thought that his longevity
was due to his smoking unfiltered cigarettes And drinking Scotch Whisky. I told him that I don't
know what I am gonna do? I don't smoke.
Charles F. Alexander was an Honest and reliable man. He helped me become a better pilot. He will be
missed.
Catch you later Charlie.
Sincerely,
Daniel Josef Pensyl
