More detail on this person: Joseph Henry Algermissen 93 of San Antonio passed away May 28 2014. Visitation will be held Monday June 2 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Helena Catholic Church followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday June 3 2014 also at St. Helena Catholic Church followed by a 2:00 p.m. burial service at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Mr. Algermissen was born February 3 1921 in Chicago Illinois. After graduating from high school in Saint Charles Missouri he enlisted in the Navy and was soon accepted into flight training. Thus began a 34 year career in military aviation which included a transfer to the Army and two combat tours in Viet Nam. He retired from active duty in 1974 and moved to San Antonio where he ran his own heating and air conditioning business for fifteen years. He enjoyed golf card games and travel and always said that he was born at exactly the right time living from the end of the horse and buggy era through the beginning of the space age. Mr. Algermissen was preceded in death by his parents his brothers James and Robert his first wife Marguerite and his son Donald Wayne. He is survived by his wife Alma Algermissen his four children; Joe Algermissen Jr. and wife Brenda Tindel Mike and Janiece Algermissen John and Star Algermissen and Diane Tobin and husband Marty eight grandchildren; Amy Bradley Molly Algermissen Selena Thorpe Andy Algermissen Emily Kronmiller Patrick Algermissen Michael Algermissen and David Tobin fifteen great-grandchildren sister Eileen Hayden and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Saint Helena Catholic Church 14714 Edgemont San Antonio TX 78247 or to any charity of your choice.
