More detail on this person: Originally from Elizabethtown, N.C. Graveside service: 9 a.m. Monday,
Aug 10, 2009, in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. He proudly served his country in the U.S.
Army, serving two tours in the Republic of Vietnam as a helicopter pilot. He retired from the
service at Fort Hood in 1982 after serving 25 years. Robert received numerous medals during his
years in the military which include the Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star
Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with Numerals 21, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense
Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal with one Silver and one Bronze Service Star,
Overseas Service Ribbon with Numerals 3, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Armed Forces
Reserve Medal with 10-year device, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm, and the Master Army
Aviator Badge.
Survivors: Wife, Pamela Allen of Bedford, TX; son, Stephen W. Allen and wife, Angel, of Florida;
grandson, Dylan Scott Allen; brother, the Rev. Willie F. Allen and wife, Alice, of North Carolina;
and numerous family members and friends.
