PHENIX CITY, AL- Joseph Grady Adams, Jr., 77, of Phenix City, AL, died Monday, March 5, 2007 at his home. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM EST, Thursday at Main Post Cemetery , Ft. Benning, GA, with full military honors, according to Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening (Wednesday) from 5-8 PM EST.

Mr. Adams was born June 23, 1929 in Barnesville, Georgia, son of the late Joseph Grady Adams, Sr. and Frankie C. Crowder. He was a retired Chief Warrant Officer 3 with 23 years of service in the United States Army and was an avid bowler. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Laughlin. Mr. Adams is survived by a daughter, Melinda Ven Huizen and husband Mark of Acton, California.; four sons, David Adams of Bloomington, IL., Michael Adams of Columbus, GA., Steven Adams and wife Rhonda of Phenix City, AL., Gary Adams and wife Rose of Columbus, GA.; a sister, Ruby Griffin of Winston Salem, NC.; stepdaughter, Jamie Edwards of Covington, GA.; six grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Columbus Hospice, 7020 Moon Rd. , Columbus, GA.
