More detail on this person: SAVANNAH - CW3 Retired Paul W. Atkinson, age 76, passed away Monday, July 22nd, 2013 at his home in Savannah surrounded by his family. Paul served in the United States Army as a Helicopter Pilot, flying two tours of duty during the Vietnam Conflict. He retired in 1975 after 23 years of service. For 23 years Paul and his wife Jan owned and operated Aladdin's Cave Lapidary/Gold & Silversmith Shop. They retired from the business in 1996. Paul loved fishing, growing Bonsai Trees, and was a member of a local Bonsai Club. He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Jan Atkinson; 5 children, Rebecca Atkinson (Paul Schmelzer), Jay Atkinson (Joyce Li), Thomas Atkinson (Julie), Carol Chapman, and Dianne A. Gibson (Bobby); a brother, Ernest Atkinson; 11 grandchildren, 3 great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Donations in Paul's memory can be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
