More detail on this person: Richard William Auth, age 76, of Aberdeen, Md. He was born in Sioux
Falls, South Dakota and earned a degree from Kent State University. Mr. Auth was a career soldier in
the U.S. Army, achieving the rank on Lt. Colonel. He served two tours in Vietnam and was a
helicopter pilot and later transfered over to the Corps of Engineers.
After retiring from the Army, he spent 15 years working at Towson University. Richard was a member
of the American Life League and enjoyed fishing, flying small airplanes and coaching his
granddaughters in swimming.
He was the husband of the late Theresa Marie Auth for over 53 years. He was survived by his son;
brother; and grandchildren.
The family received friends at Tarring-Cargo Funeral Home, Aberdeen, Md. A Mass of Christian Burial
was at Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Aberdeen, officiated by Father Samuel V. Young, on Monday,
January 5, 2009. Interment with full military honors in Arlington National Cemetery, Thurday,
February 12, 2009 at 11 a.m.
