More detail on this person: GRAYVILLE, Ill. -- Lynn D. Askins, 80, formerly of Grayville, died Thursday night at Plaza West in Sun City, Fla.

He retired after 26 years in the Army. He served in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a helicopter pilot and instructor at Fort Rucker, Ala.

After retiring, he worked in construction, at the post office and as a manager of rental property.

He was a member of Hammond United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Vivian (Taylor); a daughter, Judith Collis of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

His daughter, Linda M. Askins, died in 1960.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Sturm Funeral Home Grayville Chapel, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, with military rites.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time Monday at the funeral home.
