More detail on this person: Mr. 'Ken' Dewey McKinley Adams, Jr., of Savannah, GA, died Thursday
in Birmingham, AL.
Mr. Adams was born and raised in Durham. He attended Durham High School and NC State before
receiving his BA in administration while in the US Army. He was a CW4 and a highly decorated Vietnam
veteran. Mr. Adams also served as a helicopter instructor pilot before retiring in 1989. Mr. Adams
was a former member of First Baptist Church before relocating to Savannah, GA. In Savannah, he was
the owner of Coastal Delivery & Installation. He was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church.
Mr. Adams is survived by his wife of 15 years, Jean Cagle Adams, of the home; daughter, Amy
Katherine Adams, of Phoenix; and mother and step-father, Helen and Joe Filyaw, of Durham.
Funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Howerton-Bryan Funeral Chapel. Officiating will be
Father Gerald Clark and Rev. Crate Jones. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive visitors Sunday night from 7 to 9 at the funeral home. Memorials may be
directed to the American Lung Association in Mr. Adams' name.
