Funeral services for retired Maj. Jimmy Dale Allen, 41, of Athens were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Foster & Brown Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. David Shepard officiating.

Burial will be in the Davis Cemetery

Maj. Allen died in Temple Hospital.

Born Sept. 2, 1942 in Seminole, he lived in the Athens area four years. A U.S. Army veteran, he was a retired major. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Allen of Athens; one son, Jeffery Allen of Athens; his father, V. Allen of Seminole; his mother, Lorene Roche of Mabank; and two brothers, Donnie Allen of Balch Springs and Tommy Allen of Odessa.

Pallbearers were Nolan Wilson, Lee Wilson, Johnny Walker, Ernest Williams, Dudley Dailey and Wade Wilbanks.
