More detail on this person: Eldon J. Byars was born on October 5, 1943 in Roscoe, TX. to Mary Nell and Eldon Carter Byars. After graduating from Waco High School in 1962, he went on to attend Sam Houston State and the University of Houston. In 1966, Eldon joined the US Army and served 2 tours in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot and maintenance officer. After diligently serving in the TX National Guard, he retired in 1992. He enjoyed fishing and working fishing tournaments for Bass Champs and Skeeter. He worked for Boerne Marine for the past 8 ½ yrs. Eldon J. Byars is survived by his wife of 51 years, Georgean; daughters, Samantha Coats and favorite son-in-law Rick Coats, Shelley Byars; four grandsons, Landyn Byars, Samuel, Charlie and Jace Coats; brothers, Colin (Laureen) and George (Betty); nephew, Mitchell Byars; niece, Lindsey Byars; cousins, Jack and Laura Brady. He is well-loved and will be missed immensely. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Saturday Aug. 11th at 4pm at Porter Loring Mortuary North. Rest in peace, sir.
