More detail on this person: Don Broome, 77, of Dallas died Monday, Dec. 15, 2014. Services were held on Wednesday, December 17, 2014. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. Don Broome was born on May 22, 1937, in Pampa to Jesse and Hatti Lamb Broome. He graduated from McLean High School in 1955 and from West Texas State University in 1959. In 1959, he married Beverly Colwell before entering the Army. He started as manager of helicopter maintenance with Hughes Tool Company in 1967 in Los Angeles. In 1970, he moved to Merrill Lynch in Beverly Hills. He then moved to the Dallas and Ft. Worth offices of Merrill Lynch and finished his career at Smith Barney, retiring in 2008 as Senior Vice President of Investments and Financial Consultant. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ray and Jesse Wayne Broome; and a sister, June Walker. Survivors include his wife, Beverly and a daughter, Lynne Broome. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials may be to a charity of choice. (Published in Amarillo Globe-News, Dec. 21, 2014)
