Killed in Bell 206B during waterhole reconnaissance flight in late morning with local patchy fog and clouds when the aircraft struck a power line neutral cable that crossed the Siuslaw River resulting in loss of the main rotor system controls and entanglement in wire followed by uncontrolled crash into river terrain near Swisshome, OR. Other helicopter pilots involved in recovery complained the power lines were hard to see in the steep and forested terrain in NOE flight. He died 14 Oct 2003.
