More detail on this person: John Henry Butler
was born on June 2, 1947, to Henry Caston Butler
and Haskell Vance Butler in Philadelphia, PA. He
served his country first in the U.S. Navy as an
Air Traffic Controller and then in the U.S. Army
as a Cobra Helicopter pilot. He did two tours of
duty in Viet Nam. In civilian life he served his
community as a Law Enforcement Officer. He
retired as Captain of the Carrboro Police
Department.
John loved his family very much. He died on
Tuesday, November 17, 2015, in Burlington, NC. He
leaves behind his wife, Pamela Tucker Butler; two
beautiful daughters, Kelly Renee and Magan
Michele, and a son-in-law, Jeremy Stillwagon. He
also leaves behind two sisters, Thelma Autry and
Ardith Cannon; his in-laws, Bobby Autry, Ray
Cannon, Chuck and Laura Tucker, Debby
Carpenter, Lesa and Mark Pierce, Joy and Randy
Dameron, and Jan and Marc Kelemen. John had
many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly,
Darlene, Bobby Gene, Kristy, Franklin, Josh,
Caroline, Sam, Evan, Jason, Bryan, and Amanda.
He is preceded in death by his dear brother, Rick.
John made us laugh often and will be greatly
missed.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 21,
at Walkers Funeral Home 120 W. Franklin Street in
Chapel Hill, NC from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services
will be held on Sunday at The Lamb's Chapel 415
Roxboro Road, Haw River, NC at 4 p.m. Online
