IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS MISSON EACH DAY HE SERVED. WHILE SERVING IN THE ARMY HE WAS AWARDED THE BRONZE STAR FOR MISSIONS THAT SAVED FELLOW SERVICEMEN. WHILE STATIONED IN HAWAII HE MET HIS FIRST WIFE DIANA MERIWETHER AND MARRIED THERE IN HAWAII. MOVED TO NORTH CAROLINA WHERE THEY HAD THEIR FIRST CHILD GORDON JOHN BEATTY lll AND 2 YEARS LATER HAD THEIR DAUGHTER LISA DANIELLE BEATTY. MOVED TO COLORADO AND FLEW HELICOPTERS FOR PTARMIGAN DOING WILDLIFE SURVEYS. HIS NEXT POSITION WAS WITH THE PUBLIC SERVICE COMPANY OF COLORADO FLYING LONG RANGER HELICOPTERS TRANSPORTING EMPLOYEES TO VARIOUS LOCATIONS. SEVERAL YEARS LATER HE WAS REASSIGNED TO FLYING LEAR JETS WHEN THEY ELIMINATED THE HELICOPTER PROGRAM. AFTER HIS MARRIAGE TO DIANA OF 12 YEARS, HE MET BRENDA BARCUS WHOM HE MARRIED IN 1988, AND SPENT THE LAST 34 YEARS TOGETHER. THEY HAD NO CHILDREN TOGETHER BUT MANY ANIMALS ALONG THE WAY. GORDON AND BRENDA LOVED TO TRAVEL AND TOOK MANY MEMORABLE TRIPS AMONG SOME ARE HAWAII, FLORIDA, BELIZE, MEXICO, ALASKA, AND GALAPAGOS ISLANDS. FUN FACT ~ WHILE IN ALASKA THEY TOOK A SMALL PLANE INTO A SALT MARSH ENCOUNTERING SEVERAL GRIZZLY BEARS! BRENDA LOVED ANIMALS AND GORDON WENT ALONG FOR THE ADVENTURE. AFTER HE RETIRED, HE SPENT A LOT OF TIME WORKING ON COMPUTERS, AND COOKING AND WAS FASCINATED BY NEW TECHNOLOGY. HE WAS RELENTLESS IN THE PURSUIT OF THE PERFECT CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE! HE LOVED TO ENTERTAIN AND WOULD MAKE CERTAIN THAT ALL HAD PLENTY OF DRINKS, FOOD, AND DESSERT. HE WAS GENEROUS AND LOVING AND GIFTED IN SO MANY WAYS AND HE COULD FIX ANYTHING ~ ANYTHING! GORDON WAS FUN-LOVING, KIND GENEROUS, AND INCREDIBLY LOYAL. HE LOVED HIS ANIMALS AND THEY LOVED HIM.
