More detail on this person: Col. US Army retired JOHN NATHAN BERTELKAMP, Age 71 of 1483 Rhodes Valley Drive, Nellysford, Virginia 22958 died Sunday Morning February 7, 2010 at his residence. Born July 22, 1938 in Buffalo New York a son of the late Nathan Norbert Bertelkamp and Catherine Ruth White Bertelkamp.

Col. Bertelkamp was retired from Sikorsky Aircraft in St. Louis, Missouri. During his military career he received various awards including the Legion of Merit award, two distinguised Fly Cross Awards, two Bronze Starts, the Purple Heart, ten Army Commendation Medals, National Defence Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Senior Army Aviation Badge, Combat Infantry Badge, Senior Parachutist Badge, Ranger Tab, Office of The Secretary of Defense Identification Badge and the Army Staff Idenfication Badge.

Col. Bertelkamp is survived by his wife Helan Lee McNeill Bertelkamp, one Son Michael Bertelkamp and one daughter Joanna Bagby, a sister Linda Miller and two grandchildren.

A Mass of Christion Burial will be held Saturday February 13, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. from St. Marys Catholic Church in Lovingston, Virginia with Father Danael Kelly officiating.

Full Military honors will be accorded at the Church by the Fort Lee Honor Gaurd and Interment will be private.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel of Lovingston, Virginia (434-263-4097).
