More detail on this person: ROBERT (BOB) JOHN BENNETT - 60, of 219 Cranberry Bog Road, Danielson, passed away on 6 March 2006 at William W. Backus Hospital.

He was born in Stamford, CT on 25 September 1945, the son of the late Lawrence C. Bennett and Beaulah (Quackenbush) Bennett.

After graduating from Rippowam High School he pursued a degree in Aeronautical Engineering at Embry-Riddle University in Daytona, Florida. In 1968 he joined the Army as a fixed wing and helicopter pilot. He went on to serve two tours in Vietnam and a tour in Desert Storm I (1991). He retired a decorated Lieutenant Colonel from the Army National Guard in 1995 after serving for 26 _ years in active duty status. Hobbies included a multitude of water sports from skiing and boating to jet skiing. He also enjoyed snow skiing, hiking camping, running, quad, and dirt bike riding.

He is survived by wife and friend Karen L. (Charron) Bennett: two daughters, Amy Bennett Hansen of Chesapeake, VA and Christina Bennett Nawn of Billerica, MA. Robert's grandchildren include Courtney Leigh Hansen, Christian Thomas Hansen and Ashlyn Bennett Nawn. He is also survived by his friend and ex-wife, Dorothy Bennett and one brother Lawrence Bennett of Cincinnati, OH. He was uncle to Robert, John and William Bennett.

There will be a memorial service held at the Christian Fellowship Church on 11 March 2006 at 2pm - 142 Pudding Hill Road, Scotland, CT 06264 (Route 97). In lieu of flowers please make donations to the National Cancer Institute. Tillinghast Funeral Home, 433 Main Street, Danielson is in charge of arrangements.
