More detail on this person: Ted Bidigare, age 77, a resident of St. Clair Shores, passed away at his home on Monday, June 8, 2020. Ted was born in Detroit on January 10, 1943, to Frank and Melva. Ted was proud to have served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and earned the Purple Heart for his selfless service to our Country. He attended Austin High School in Detroit and went on to earn his bachelor's degree from John Carroll University in Ohio. From his time at high school, his military service, and college education, Ted formed and fostered relationships he still maintained until his passing. He held many management positions until becoming the City Manager of Grosse Pointe Woods. Ted was proud to serve the city and was a wonderful asset to the city and surrounding communities. Ted enjoyed traveling in his retirement years. There were many reunion trips to see college and Army friends, and flying to Florida to spend time with some of his closest friends. He even made it to Warsaw, Poland, to spend time with his brother Fred. Ted also looked forward to regular lunches with his Austin classmates, playing poker (not very well) with friends at The Helm, and spending Tuesdays with Jerry at the movies to take advantage of the free popcorn. One of Ted's favorite post-retirement jobs was being the "Nanny" for his grandchildren, a job title he gave himself. Spending time with his grandchildren was very important to him, and he loved every minute. Ted was the beloved husband to the late Georgie, who passed away in 2010 after 38 years united in love and marriage. Loving father of Ted Jr. and his wife, Kelley. Ted and Kelley's two children, Jack and Meghan were very dear to their grandfather. He also leaves behind two siblings, Frederick and Tom (Kathy). Ted touched many hearts and will surely be missed. A Commendation service was held at First English Evangelical Lutheran Church on June 13, 2020. A Committal service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contribution's in Ted's memory may be made to the family and will be used to offset the Arlington costs. Please share a thought or memory with the family at ahpeters.com
