More detail on this person: Benjamin Johnson Bond, always called "BJ" after his namesake
grandfather Dr. BJ Bond, succumbed to lymphoma July 29, 2015 at the age of 68. BJ, a native of
Tallahassee, was an angler and sportsman who enjoyed golf in his later years. He was a 1964 graduate
of Leon High School, where he was a member of the swim team. BJ went on to graduate from FSU
where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta, as well as the ROTC. He served in the US Army as a
helicopter pilot from 1969 through 1971, completing a tour in Vietnam where he was awarded The
Distinguished Flying Cross and Bronze Star Medal. Following his discharge BJ enjoyed a career as a
corporate pilot, and his lifetime of travels took him to countless countries and every continent
save Antarctica. BJ leaves behind his co-pilot(wife) of 34 years Anne and his two wing-men(sons)
John Trevor Bond and his wife Mary Margaret Fernandez, and Colin Wallis Bond; his sister Letitia
Bond Bevis and husband Bert, and brother Patrick Bond and wife Connie, of Tallahassee;
sisters-in-law Linda Groves and husband Ken, of Brisbane Australia and Sally Blignaut of Roswell GA;
beloved nieces and nephews Laura Sale, Drake Faircloth, Teri Miller, Lewis and Elliot Bond, and
Logan Blignaut, and his companion and hunting buddy, Ammo. He was predeceased by his brother
John Johnston Bond and his mother and father John Johnston and Dorothy Bond. The Memorial Service
will be held Saturday August 1st at Blessed Sacrament Church at 10:00am.
