More detail on this person: Michael A. Bruce, 52 years old of Lake Villa, IL, passed away suddenly Saturday, January 19, 2002 at his home.

He was born February 2, 1949 in Chicago, IL the son of Boris and Phyllis (Johnson) Bruce moving to the Lake Villa area in 1990.

Mike was a graduate of Western, IL, served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War and was a helicopter pilot and later a helicopter instructor pilot.

Presently he was serving in the Army Reserve as a Chief Warrant Officer with the 85th Division in Arlington Heights, IL. As a civilian he worked as a telecommunications supervisor for the U.S. Army, also in Arlington Heights, IL.

On June 18, 1999 he married Cecilia Highfill Walpole in Long Grove, IL.

Survivors are his wife Cecilia, his children, Anna Bruce, Megan Walpole, Matthew Bruce, Nathan Walpole, Ashleigh Walpole and Julia Bruce, his mother Phyllis Bruce of Lemont, IL, two brothers Paul (Susan) Bruce of Lemont, IL and Gregg Bruce of Las Vegas, NV.

He was preceded in death by his father Boris Bruce.

Funeral Services with Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, January 24, 2002 at St. Peter Church, 557 Lake St., Antioch.

Military Honors will follow.

Final disposition will be cremation.
