More detail on this person: BURNS, Joseph C., retired U.S. Army colonel, 77, of Brandon, died September 9, 2008, due to a massive stroke. He is survived by the only woman he ever loved, his wife of 51 years, Sue. They raised five children (now married), Deborah and Dustin Frazier, Joseph M. and Cindy Burns, Tony and Jamie Burns, James and Cheryl Burns, and Mary and James Wassenaar. He also is survived by 28 grandchildren and four of nine siblings. He served his country with skill and pride for more than 30 years in the U.S. Army. His wake will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, September 11, 2008, at Southern Funeral Care, 10510 Riverview Drive, Riverview, Fla. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 12, 2008, at Nativity Catholic Church in Brandon, followed by burial at 1 p.m. at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. In lieu of flowers, please send funds to the Nativity Catholic Church Food Bank in Brandon.
